Four-Peat 7 Daysies Award for Website Design and Development

On the first day back at work from my wedding and honeymoon, I was greeted by fantastic news: Union Street Media won the 2012 Seven Daysies for “Best Web Developer” in their annual survey of Vermont businesses!  We’re absolutely thrilled to be the Four-Peat winners of this award.  Winning the Daysie is a great testament to the team we’ve developed and our extensive family of clients, 94% of whom stay with us year-after-year.  Thank you to everyone that voted for us!

How rare is a Four-Peat?  Hockey fans including Francis Gravel, our in-house goalie and application developer extrodinaire, know that we now join the 1976 to 1979 Montreal Canadians and the 1980 to 1983 New York Islanders as Four-Peat winners.  We also join the 1936 to 1939 Yankees, unfortunately, on that list.  (Worst of all, that team from New York also Five-Peat’d from 1949 to 1953, well before Todd Cummings, our Yankees fan and Creative Director, was somehow misguided into rooting for them).

The competition to win a national sports championship is clearly more competitive than a Daysie.  However, I hope that part of what made those teams successful is also reflected in our team.  We work hard to ensure our clients success, which we feel is the best way to ensure our success.  We collaborate internally, which includes the ability to argue well.  Finally, we have a lot of fun working together.  Whether it’s Tuesday office lunch or meeting up for beers after work, we really enjoy each others company.  One of my favorite things about working at Union Street Media is that I love to go to our Christmas party, which is nothing like the cliché, dreaded end-of-the-year office get together.

Will we Five-Peat next year to join the 1978 to 1982 Edmonton Eskimos, Canadian Football’s Grey Cup champs?  Time will tell.  What I do know is that over the next year, we will keep up the hard work and approach to our business that got us the first four.  And, of course, if you’d like your website to be built by an award winning team, please contact us!

The new site is a hub for everything the Church offers and a place to showcase their community activities.

Recent Client Launches

In the last few weeks, we’ve had the privilege at Union Street Media of launching several new websites.

Nicole Martinez

Nicole Martinez is a tech savvy real estate agent. She focuses a lot of time working on ways to increase her business potential. She does a lot of advertising in her market and needed a  website that would be the center of it all. Her previous website didn’t have IDX and she wanted more SEO power from her new website. She came to Union Street Media because we are experts in the industry and would build her a powerful advertising platform to help her business grow

Main Street Landing

Main Street Landing

When Union Street Media started the Main Street Landing website redesign, the site was about ten years old. In addition to the redesign, there were three goals for the new Main St. Landing website: promote space for long term lease, promote daily rentals at the Performing Arts Center and other Main Street Landing venues, and advocate Main Street Landing’s sustainable development mission.

Lipkin Investment Properties

Steve Lipkin and Luke Clavelle of Hickok and Boardman recently launched their Premium website. Before partnering with Union Street Media, the duo did not have a website. Understanding the importance of having an online presence, they came to Union Street Media to ensure that their business has a top notch site that works for them. We’re please to announce that Lipkin Investment Properties now has a website that professionally represents their brand and continues to grow their market share, both online and off.

Jim Roy Real Estate Agent

Jim Roy

Jim Roy is a successful broker with Long & Foster. Jim’s previous website was very basic and the MLS search wasn’t up to par for what his market demanded. He also didn’t have the ability to create additional pages on his site. Jim launched his new website with Union Street Media because we were able to provide him with a sophisticated IDX search that better represents his business and was easier to use. He also gained the ability to edit the web site himself and make it his own, creating a professional looking website that was welcoming to people.

Ed and Agnes Chatelain

Ed and Agnes Chatelain were looking for a website vendor who could help them distinguish themselves from what other Realtors were doing in their market. They wanted a website that they could easily update with information about the local area, best places to surf and which beach was best. Tying their local knowledge and website together, they can now inform potential home buyers of all the benefits of buying a home.

Cape Cod Real Estate
Pam Perkins Real Estate Agent

Pam Perkins

Pam wanted a website that would be a resource for potential home buyers by providing information on local lakes and towns. The website had to be both clean and professional, while allowing visitors to easily navigate the information. As a showpiece of her market, there would be a lot of spectacular photos added to the site that enhance the information provided. Union Street Media also included a Sold Properties search that would let Pam’s potential clients research the housing market.

RG Homes

Roz not only sells real estate, but also helps home-buyers realize the full potential of their purchases. She wanted a website that could be a customer service portal for existing customers who were interested in interior design. The website also had to be a lead generator for potential new clients. The most important thing was making sure her website ranked well organically with integrated listings and unique content. The website features a custom testimonials widget and a photo gallery for her Interior design projects.

Union Street Media website launches: schools, dog care, planning, and wine

This month, we rolled out five new Interactive sites.  We’re proud to unveil the new website designs for St. Joseph Catholic School, Shelburne Vineyard, Crate Escape, Charlie Smith for Senate and NNECAPA!

St.Joseph Catholic School

With a close-knit school community, St. Joseph Catholic School came to Union Street looking for a website that would connect their parents and administration.  Using compelling images, clean design and well-written content, we were able to create a complex, yet easily navigable site that will allow their current school community to connect while attracting new families, as well.

Shelburne Vineyard

Vermonters are proud of their dairy and produce, but surprisingly, they can now be proud of their wines, as well.    When Shelburne Vineyard approached Union Street, we were eager to build a beautiful site that would showcase their award-winning wines and their vineyard’s stellar location.  This WordPress site combines beautiful photos with a navigation that emphasizes the numerous ways in which you can experience Shelburne Vineyard wines.  With a blog, events calendar, visit schedule and active social media, Shelburne Vineyard can now interact with their customers in a more robust way.

Crate Escape

After looking at several web designers, local Burlington Doggie Day Care provider, Crate Escape, came to USM, impressed by our portfolio excited to re-invigorate their website to be more user-friendly and inviting.  Built in WordPress, this site includes a blog, photos of the comfortable setting and friendly dogs at Crate Escape and easy ways for dog owners to get in touch.  USM also did basic optimization on the site to make it visible in search engines.

Charlie Smith for State Senate

Seeking to expand his base and convey his experience and positions in running for Chittenden County’s Senate seat, Charlie Smith worked with Union Street to build an informative, appealing website.  Focusing on Vermont themes (to highlight the fact that he’s a 6th generation Vermonter) we built an easy-to-maintain WordPress site that helps people quickly learn about Charlie as well as donate to his cause.

NNECAPA

After working with Union Street on the Burlington Climate Action Plan website in 2009, Sandrine Thibault was happy to start a new project in redesigning the NNECAPA (Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association) website.  She knew she could expect an easily updateable and navigable result and that’s exactly what she was looking for.  With goals of improving staff access to site content and making the site more informative and useful to NNECAPA members, we focused on a clean, uncluttered design, setting up the site in WordPress and organizing the many pages in a clear and concise way. Learn more about the process and how much Sandrine liked working with USM in this testimonial.
